About us - Supporting people of Nepal...

Because we've been there!

Yes, things have not always been as they are right now. We're still a small company just trying to its best, to fulfill a dream we have, but a long time ago things were totally different.

Miles Levin foundation
Namgyal was born in the district of Khotang, South of the famous Solo Khumbu district. Born in a poor and uneducated family who survived by working on the fields. A forgotten district like Khotang, no tourism at all, is still undeveloped in terms of modern facilities. Houses are simple, water is taken from streams, toilets are very basic, school are rare and of low quality. The land, however, is beautiful, wild, untouched. As you understand, because of Namgyal roots, Mountain Consult is connected to Khotang. We're not connected to Khotang only, but let's say there's a special connection. For that reason Mountain Consult has been involved in the support of the district. In 2009, Namgyal and Dr Keidan, an American surgical oncologist who was very eager to give something back to the people of the country he fell in love with, went for a field trip to Khotang. After their trip Dr Keidan setup a foundation with his friend Miles Levin; the Miles Levin foundation. Many things have changed since then for the people of Khotang. In the past 3½ years, with help of many others, 50 projects have completed, including 966 new toilets, 50 new Parent-Teacher Associations, 38 new classrooms and 20 new drinking water projects in Eastern Nepal. Another example of our support to Nepal has been the work of Armand and Eveline, our Dutch partners, within the Climbing for Water foundation. This initiative was born in the last few years after witnessing so many water problems through the country. By organizing special climbing projects, Climbing for Water tries to spread awareness about water problems in Nepal, among others, and, to collect funds to support water projects or areas that need to establish new water solutions. Mountain Consult clients automatically support, too!
The support continues... Not to reach a certain level of luxury, but just because there are so many areas that need our help and support. For that reason Mountain Consult reserves US$ 100,- for every paying client to support people in need in the Himalayas. We know that even these amounts are never enough, but at least we're trying to share and to commit ourselves to support people in Nepal who struggle more than we do...
