Hi, I'm Armand! [ back ]

As a teenager, I became very attracted to the outdoors. For me, the outdoors meant real adventure and an environment that could (and would) put me to the test. I applied for a traineeship as an outdoor instructor within a adventure travel company in Luxembourg and France. Soon, rock climbing, mountain biking, white water kayaking, navigating, hiking and survival techniques became new challenges and a whole new way of life. After I finished my studies, I setup a joined company with my brother and used my experiences to organize business events and business trainings. For many years we used the outdoors as a creative and challenging training environment. I learned a lot!

The Himalayas
Eventually, my personal search for adventure and my curiosity for other countries lead me to the Himalayas. After I illegally crossed the Himalayas from Tibet on an old mountain bike, I was determined to trek to the Everest Base Camp as a warm up for the climb itself. The latter however, has still not happened, yet… In the years after I continued travelling, trekking and climbing in the Himalayas. My fascination grew bigger and as a result I decided to combine my experiences by working as a trekking guide in Nepal, India and Tibet for several western adventure travel companies. Again, I travelled, trekked, climbed and learned a lot!

Mountain Consult
Back in Holland I became very interested again to setup my own adventure travel company in the Netherlands. From 2000 I opened this company, organizing all kind of treks, light expeditions and support services in Nepal, India and Tibet. But I was not satisfied. I wanted to be involved in the operation side as well to get a better grip on quality issues. So I searched for opportunities to setup a company in Nepal. On a trip to Sherpani Col I eventually met Namgyal. I knew for sure that I had found the best partner to realize our plans. Experiences, drives and views suddenly came together. In 2008 we put the first steps to establish Mountain Consult International in Holland and set up Mountain Consult Nepal in Nepal. Mountain Consult Nepal Consult Nepal is operational company.
